Going Santa Fe

A Film by Anne Davis Mulford

Going Santa Fe tells a compelling personal and historical narrative, beginning with my mother’s bold and controversial decision in 1964, to move our family from a small town in Connecticut to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her journey—one of reinvention and resilience—was emblematic of a broader movement of individuals who have sought refuge and renewal in Santa Fe since the turn of the 20th century, if not before. The film highlights Santa Fe as a city that has long drawn and provided sanctuary for those who challenge societal norms; and interweaves personal histories with the larger political and cultural landscape of the time, illuminating Santa Fe’s role as a haven for artists, free thinkers, and visionaries.
